Description

Boasting the world’s fastest autofocus system as well as the world’s most phase-detection autofocus points, the Sony Alpha A6300 is truly a gem of a camera. This is a mirrorless camera that offers a 24-megapixel resolution just like its predecessor A6000. The Sony A6300 has a 24.2 MP APS-C Sensor (Exmor CMOS sensor) and it helps capture 4K videos.

Coming with a better body than the A6000, the new Alpha A6300 has an extremely solid magnesium alloy body that’s dust and moisture resistant for extreme conditions. Given how you can use larger lenses as the camera is compatible with them, the A6300 has a better grip and body to hold those lenses as well, irrespective of how heavy they are.

The major advantage of the mirrorless cameras is the size that they have, a very compact body while bringing no compromises at all in what is being offered in terms of the features. The 4D FOCUS system in the A6300 boasts one of the world’s fastest autofocus (AF) acquisition time that can lock focus on a subject in as little as 0.05 seconds. Thanks to this fast autofocus and the processing prowess that the camera has, the Sony A6300 can shoot images at up to 11 frames per second with continuous autofocus and exposure tracking.

The new image sensor delivers images with less noise within a wide sensitivity range from ISO 100 to ISO 51200. Choose continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking up to 11fps, or up to 8fps with live view featuring minimal display lag on the EVF or LCD screen. The fast hybrid Autofocus system can be used in both, HD and 4K video recording.

Full pixel readout without pixel binning (approx. 2.4 x6 (6K equivalent) as much image data condensed to 4K) achieves the ultimate in 4K movie resolution. The 4K video recording can be done in Super 35mm format with full pixel readout, and the 6K equivalent data is oversampled to produce high-quality 4K content. The Full HD videos can be slowed down to 120 fps with a high bitrate of up to 100 Mbps. The camera can record 4x/5x slow-motion movies internally when the frame rate is set at 30p or 24p or use the 120fps footage to edit into slow motion later on.

The α6300 is equipped with a high contrast, high-resolution XGA OLED Tru-Finder with approximately 2.4 million dots. There is also a new mode available for the viewfinder that allows display of images at 120Hz, and this helps in better subject tracking through the Tru-Finder.

The camera isn’t smart only with how it captures content but also how it comes with multiple options of connectivity. The A6300 has Wi-Fi / NFC / QR code for seamless, simple connections. Wireless links via Near Field Communication (and now, via QR code, for those without NFC-enabled smartphones) make it easy to transfer image data from the α6300 to mobile devices. The Sony’s PlayMemories application for both, iOS and Android helps not just transfer the captured content but also in controlling the camera, which compensates with the screen that cannot be rotated to 180-degrees. Then when you’re done, you can use the free software to sort and manage your stills and video with PlayMemories Home or edit your RAW file with either Sony’s Image Data Converter or Capture One Express (for Sony).

The Sony Alpha A6300 is available in either the only-body option or with the 16-50mm kit lens, and the battery that powers this camera is the NPFW50 model. Also, the charging can be done with the MicroUSB port under the flap on the side, and this can be useful

To sum it up about the quality, the Sony A6300 is an excellent camera for the sports and action photography and videography and someone who really emphasizes about the size of the cameras they carry while capturing videos, this one should suffice all your needs with the 4K video recording. Whatever Sony has offered here in terms of the autofocus, not just the speed but the total points of focus is all what many other cameras in this price range, even the DSLRs have not been able to offer.

If you are wondering if the camera has its own stabilization, there is no such in-body stabilization but thanks to how Sony offers its lenses, most of those lenses have stabilization to negate with the shakes. This is an E-mount camera but it can also support the Canon lenses with an adapter that is easily available.
