Description

The powerful legacy of 5D series from Canon is complemented well by the EOS 5D Mark IV, which can be called an ideal camera for those looking at not a hobby but a professional use, including ones like wedding photography, portrait captures, nature photography, landscape shooting, and the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV is a very recommended camera even for creative videography, when used with the right set of lenses.

The 5D Mark IV from Canon comes with a 30.4-megapixel full-frame sensor and that is a CMOS sensor that is measured at36.0mm x 24.0mm. There is a possibility for highly-detailed 4K video is captured with ease and that is suitable for post-processing, retouching and cropping. Focus accuracy has been improved with a refined 61-point AF system and Canon’s revolutionary Dual Pixel CMOS AF for quick, smooth AF for both video and Live View shooting. There’s the Canon’s DIGIC 6+ Image Processor that helps in the fast processing of the pictures, and it also helps do a continuous shooting at up to 7.0 fps.

Smooth, fast and intelligent Dual Pixel CMOS features two photodiodes per pixel with each pixel capable of phase-difference detection autofocus, delivering fast and accurate AF throughout approximately 80% of the image plane. It enables continuous automatic AF and AF tracking for sharp stills and smooth focus transitions in movies. Select focus points throughout the frame with the touch of a finger, and confirm focus by zooming in or enlarging stills grabbed from video recordings.

As for the design, these are the major features of the camera.

  • A robust magnesium alloy body design is both dust- and weather-sealed to permit working in harsh environments.
  • There is a mirror vibration control system that helps reduce the mechanical vibrations for a better sharpness when taking long-exposure photos.
  • The intelligent Viewfinder II has a pentaprism design and a brighter view, and this viewfinder is configurable for displaying a range of shooting modes and aids.
  • There are two CompactFlash and SD memory card slots.

The ISO range possible with the Canon 5D Mark IV is 100–32000 (expandable to 50–102400) and that makes it perfectly suitable for low light photography. Its sensor has an improved S/N ratio plus an improved noise-processing algorithm to help deliver high-level light sensitivity along with its high resolution, thereby ensuring that the quality is not compromised in almost every light condition. The different scenarios are all negated with the extended ISO range, for example, the photography at fast shutter speeds, suppressing the camera shake blur, or even while capturing photos in low light.

As for the video recording, the EOS 5D Mark IV can capture Digital Cinema (DCI) standard 4K (Motion JPEG) videos of 4096 x 2160 pixels at up to 30 or 24 fps and supports the 4K broadcasting standard of 3840 x 2160 pixels. The Full HD video recording at 1920 x 1080 pixels is possible as well with the frame rate of 60 fps, while the 720p HD videos at go for up to 120 fps. The formats supported here include MOV and MP4. The camera is also capable of saving 8.8-megapixel images with in-camera 4K still frame grab option.

The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV has a 3.2-inch touch panel LCD, and the LCD’s touch panel surface facilitates fast, intuitive operation, including AF frame switching, menu and setting changes plus image magnification during live view shooting and movie shooting.

The connectivity options that are inbuilt in the EOS 5D Mark IV include Wi-Fi and GPS. Compatible with American GPS satellites, Russian GLONASS satellites and Japanese quasi-zenith satellites Michibiki, the EOS 5D Mark IV’s GPS information stays reliably accurate in many locations. There is also NFC for connectivity with the compatible Android devices.

The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV has the Canon Log capability where it features a log gamma setting that maximizes dynamic range and provides a wide exposure latitude. Canon Log makes it perfect to shoot in tricky lighting conditions where there are high contrasts between bright and dark areas, as it reduces the chance of important details missed out by over / under-exposure.

The EOS 5D Mark IV has a Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.2V, 1900mAh).
